Make your next dinner ready in just 10 minutes with this oyster sauce noodles recipe. This tasty dish is super easy to make, and uses as few main ingredients as noodles, vegetable, and oyster sauce. Oyster sauce boasts umami and adds the savory and tangy flavor to the noodles.
Ingredients and notes
You’ll need:
- 100 g noodles
- 5 plants of bok choy or baby bok choy, use more if you like
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil or olive oil
- ½ - 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, adjust to taste
- 3-5 stalks of coriander, finely chopped
- 1 green onion, finely chopped (optional)
- Chili sauce to taste (optional)
Notes
- Oyster sauce: this is the main ingredient of this recipe. It is made from oyster extracts, sugar, salt and water thickened with corn starch. It is a common condiment used in Chinese cuisine.
- Choices of greens: I used bok choy in this recipe, but spinach or soy bean sprouts would also work equally well.
- Herbs: chopped green onion and coriander give additional flavor to this dish. But you can leave them out.
- Variation in spices: I always have a jar of Lao Gan Ma chili crisp on hand, but you can use your favourite hot sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
- Choice of noodles: egg noodles, pasta / spaghetti, udon noodles are all good for this recipe.
Step-by-step instructions
Bring a pot of water to a boil, cook the noodles. 2 minutes away from done, add bok choys to blanch. Drain well.
Place the noodles and bok choys in the plate, add 1 tablespoon oil or olive oil, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, mix well
